Derbyshire Wedding Photography – Rock My Dress – Elvaston Castle
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Jamillah for her “Rock my Dress” photo shoot. I actually photographed Jamillah’s wedding a year ago so it was great to meet up with her again and do something a little different for her fashion-style shoot. Sarah at SJG Professional Make Up Artistry did Jamillah’s make-up. Having worked with Sarah before I knew it was going to look amazing and I wasn’t wrong. It was totally different to Jamillah’s wedding day but this is the great thing about a “Rock my Dress” photo shoot. If you are not familiar with the “Rock my Dress” shoot, it basically gives brides an opportunity to put on their wedding dress again and do something different with their make-up and in a different location to that on their wedding day. And, of course, they have even more beautiful photos of themselves wearing their wedding dress. This type of photo shoot is also known as “Trash the dress” or “Love my dress”.
For Jamillah’s photo shoot, we chose Elvaston Castle in Derby which is probably one of my favourite locations for on-location photography. As a Wedding and Portrait Photographer, I love the variety of backdrops at Elvaston Castle and it is perfect for family portraits or fashion shoots.
A lot of the photos were taken using natural light and for the final part of the shoot, we used off-camera flash techniques to create a different atmosphere.
Jamillah was brilliant to work with, very natural and confident in front of the camera and we had a lot of fun during the photo shoot.
Here are a selection of some of the photos from the session:-
