It’s Christmas – the final week of Project 52
Wow, I can’t believe another year has passed. Where did 2013 go!
As I knew what Santa was bringing my son (courtesy of my very kind and generous parents!), the final week of Project 52 was already planned out. It had to incorporate his new piano!
He hasn’t been playing the piano long. In fact, his musical journey started with a guitar. It took some time to find an available teacher for my son’s age and when a space became available earlier this year, whilst he enjoyed it very much, once it got to learning how to play with his left hand, he wasn’t so keen as it hurt his fingers! Fortunately, the same teacher also taught piano and he decided to have a trial with this and loved it.
He’s picked up reading music really well and my parent’s suggested it as it’s something that he wants to pursue. And if he doesn’t….well, I have a very nice piece of furniture! Jokes aside, he’s played every day and I’m now getting lessons from him. I’m now past the notes in numbers stage and onto learning to read music which isn’t coming to me as quickly as it did him! I’ll be paying much more attention in his piano lessons in 2014.
I’ve had an amazing year and thoroughly enjoyed Project 52. Some of the photos I’ve showed you, made it into wall art at home (and also in the studio) and I will be doing a little album of all of the photos together so my family can look back on it at some point.
My son’s favourite photo week was week 35 – in fact, he still wears his fake glasses. You can view this by clicking here.
Week 8 was my parent’s favourite (framed on their wall!) and I’m indecisive so I’m going to choose three – the first being week 6 as it’s a photo of my son and his best friend whom he adores, the second one is week 17 for the fun factor whilst doing it (we got drenched and it amused our neighbours) and week 40 just for being a cool photo and also it was the beginning of a new chapter with my business as the photo was taken outside of my studio.
Thank you to those people who have commented to me in person or by message how they have enjoyed our Project 52.
Finally, a massive thank you to my gorgeous boy for co-operating with me (or should I say putting up with me) and my ideas. I couldn’t do it without him and, as I always say, he is totally my inspiration.
We had a little team talk over Christmas as to whether to do a project 52 for 2014 and, as much as I’ve enjoyed it, we’ve decided every week was too much for both of us; although my son was pretty co-operative most weeks, some times it became a chore for him and whilst I always make time to take photos, it was the editing and blogging that I couldn’t fit in with other work and commitments. If you know me though, you’ll know that I’m constantly taking photos and sharing them on my blog and Facebook so we’ve decided to do a Project 12 for ’14. One photo session each month and I will blog 14 photos from each session. My son’s already decided where January’s project will take place so I look forward to sharing those with you in 2014.
Until then, thank you looking and, if you’ve been sharing my work, thank you again!
Wishing everyone a prosperous 2014 xoxo
