NEWBORN pHOTOGRAPHY TRAINING

1-to-1 Newborn Training Across the UK

Master the Art of Newborn Photography

There’s something magical about capturing about capturing a newborn’s first days.

Those tiny fingers, adorable expressions, and precious moments become timeless photos for families. If you’re drawn to capturing these fleeting moments, you’re in the right place.

I’ve spent the last decade perfecting the art of newborn photography, working with hundreds of families both in studio settings and their homes. What I’ve learned along the way is that exceptional newborn photography goes beyond just knowing your camera settings – it’s about creating a safe, calm environment, understanding baby cues, and mastering gentle posing techniques that put both baby and parents at ease.

Whether you’re an established photographer looking to expand your expertise or just beginning your photography journey, I’ll guide you through every aspect of newborn photography. From essential safety practices and settling techniques to lighting and business strategies, my comprehensive training will give you the confidence and skills to build a thriving newborn photography business.

Safety First

I prioritise baby safety and comfort throughout every session, carefully monitoring signs that require adjustments to ensure babies are happy and secure.

Flexible Training Options

Train at your own studio or in Nottingham if you plan to be a mobile newborn photographer. If you require something different to the schedule, please let me know as this can be tailored to you and your future goals.

Comprehensive Training

No holding back on everything I have learnt for over a decade, I’m an open book.

Questions about the Training

The session will take place either at your studio or can be arranged in Nottingham. Travel is included up to 45 miles and charged at 45p per mile thereafter.

If the training is at your studio, I will ask you to arrange for a baby ideally aged under 3 weeks old but can be up to 5 weeks old.
If the training takes place in Nottingham, I will arrange this.
In both cases, I recommend arranging for a backup parent and baby in the event of someone not being able to attend on the day.

Of course. However, for transparency to parents looking for a newborn photographer, I recommend stating that the photos were taken as part of a training course. This will show parents that you take safety and handling their newborns seriously.

Bring your camera and lenses in the range of 24-70mm, 50mm or 35mm. It is expected that you will be familiar with your camera and settings as camera training is not included. Guidance on what settings to use for the photos, however, will be given.

Yes. However, if you require any business or marketing training I only offer this to photographers 30 miles from NG5 7NE.

Yes. If you would like to do the training with a friend, the additional cost would be £200 so the overall cost if you split this between you will be £400/£395 each.

Babies are tiny and they need care when handling to ensure they are safe at all times when posing them and there are certain things you need to look out for. Also, it’s worth mentioning that some newborn photos are composites, i.e. 2 or 3 images merged together. The froggy pose is one of those, and whilst this is not a pose I do myself, you do need to be aware that not all photos are taken as you see them online. Composites are something which I will talk about during your training so that you are aware of this and can ensure safety is followed in your own sessions going forward.

No, as a natural posing newborn photographer, the only accessories I use are wraps and hats to style the photos. Although I have used basket props in my sessions many years ago, it’s a style I no longer practice and therefore will not be included in my training. However, if you have a basket that you would like to use in your sessions, I’m happy to show you how babies should be safely posed in this.

1-to1- training is £595 and is payable in three instalments of £195 at the time of booking, £200 6 weeks before your training day and the final payment of £200 payable 2 weeks before.
2-to1- training is £795 and is payable in three instalments of £295 at the time of booking, £250 6 weeks before your training day and the final payment of £250 payable 2 weeks before.
If you are hiring The Createry in Nottingham, this will need to be paid in advance at the time of booking. Cost to be advised at the time of booking.

Alison clearly has brilliant baby whispering skills from all her newborn photography experience, as she kept our baby content and asleep throughout and she has such a calm and gentle manner.
