NOTTINGHAM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Natural, documentary-style wedding photography capturing how you felt – and how incredible you looked

Documentary wedding photos that tell your story

Your wedding day is about celebrating your exchange of vows with the people you love, knowing the moments that matter are being captured naturally as they unfold.

I photograph weddings in a documentary style, blending beautifully styled portraits with real moments, honest emotion and the in-between details you might not even realise are happening at the time. The result is a collection of images that reflects how your day felt, not just how it looked.

Based in Nottingham, I work with couples who want relaxed, natural wedding photography, and a photographer who helps them feel comfortable enough to be themselves.

Over 15 years photographing weddings

With experience comes a deeper understanding of how important it is to feel at ease in front of the camera and confident that every part of your day, even the moments you don’t see, is being thoughtfully documented.

When you can picture yourself in the photos, relaxed and surrounded by your favourite people, that’s when the excitement really starts to build.

Here’s how I tell the story of your day:

You’ll relive the moments you felt and the glances you didn’t see.

You’ll smile as you look back on the fun everyone had.

The emotions will be captured, without interference.

  • Our wedding photos are perfect in every way

Chris and I can’t thank you enough Alison. Our wedding photos are perfect in every way. You have captured everything just as we wanted. We’ve received endless comments from friends and family about how fantastic the photos are.

Your communication from the offset was 100% and on the day you made us all feel relaxed which allowed you to get some amazing shots of our children.

I keep shedding happy tears each and every time I look at them. Thank you again Alison.

About Alison

Nottingham Wedding Photographer since 2009

I believe that where there’s love, there are moments to capture and through photos, those memories grow in value with time.

When couples trust me to document their wedding, I approach it with a creative flair and thoughtfulness as I know the photos will become part of a family heirloom.

I’m relaxed and am frequently complimented on my warm and easygoing personality, which helps put people at ease in what can sometimes be an unnatural situation for them.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer to create some genuine memories for you, I’d love to hear from you.

What to expect on your wedding day

Finding the right wedding photographer goes beyond beautiful images and your experience matters to me just as much as your photos.

I’ll be with you and your guests throughout the day, so it’s important that you feel comfortable, not just in front of the camera but with me being at your wedding too.

On your wedding day, I’ll blend naturally into your celebrations, ensuring everyone feels relaxed while I capture your wedding day unfolding. I’m never over the top but always there to guide you through planning and get the most out of your location. If you’re worried about being in front of the camera (as many couples are), my personable nature will put you at ease without making things feel forced.

I photograph a mixture of naturally posed portraits and documentary, candid-style photos but, being a bit of a people watcher, I’m drawn to photographing weddings in a predominantly documentary style. Over the years, I’ve developed a pretty good instinct for anticipating moments from the way people interact with each other. I capture those small interactions that might otherwise go unnoticed, all without interrupting the flow of your day.

Although I’m based in Nottingham, I photograph weddings throughout Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, as well as across the rest of the UK.

DOCUMENTARY. TIMELESS. ELEGANT.

Why choose me to photograph your wedding

  • 15+ years of experience photographing weddings in Nottingham and across the UK.
  • Award winning photography for weddings and portraits.
  • A calm, documentary approach with natural, elegant portraits – there’s no forced poses or awkward moments.
  • I work closely with every couple to understand what matters most, so you get the photos you love, not just the ones I think you need.
  • A discreet presence – I blend into the day, not interrupt it.
  • A classic editing style that doesn’t follow trends meaning your photos will look as beautiful in ten years as they do today.
  • A professional and personal experience from our first chat to your final gallery.

  • Alison manages to spot every smile, laugh and tear throughout the day

Having looked at a large number of local photographers, it was two things that sold Alison to us. One was her amazing ability to capture emotions of the day – you can’t help but smile at the joyful faces in her photos and secondly, her photographs of children – which are simply breathtaking. Our wedding had 5 flower girls and 2 page boys so this element was extremely important to us.

Alison is relaxed and easy going, she ‘blends into’ the wedding and was never once pushy. I barely noticed she was even there a lot of the time. I felt really at ease around her and I booked her straight away.

The wedding photos are simply stunning, capturing some very special memories that we will treasure forever. She manages to spot every smile, laugh and tear throughout the day, and captures them beautifully. Her natural style of photography and the later editing makes for the most gorgeous photographs.

The photos taken of the children are the best we have ever seen, through them we can see all of the fun they had in the day and they look adorable

I would unreservedly recommend Alison. She is professional, friendly and above all extremely talented.

Wedding FAQs

Wedding photography collections range from £500 to £2,650, depending on the coverage you choose.

This includes options for intimate micro weddings, full-day celebrations and an enhanced collection with albums and travel included. Full details can be found on my pricing page.

I regularly photograph weddings across Nottingham and the surrounding areas, including venues such as Stubton Hall, Nottingham Council Offices, Norwood Park, Cockcliffe Country Park and many more.

If your venue is in Nottingham or the surrounding counties, there’s a good chance I have, and if not, I always take time to familiarise myself with the location ahead of your day.

I’m based in the heart of Nottingham but I’m more than happy to travel across the UK. I offer coverage from 2 hours up to 10 hours.

Of course. I appreciate that everyone likes some formal photos, but I suggest these are kept to around 6 different group photos.   This is so that you and your guests can enjoy the day without waiting around for endless group photos – a comment I often hear from couples who have attended a friend’s weddings.   I’m always happy to work with you as to what you want.

This will depend on the length of coverage you book. This can be from 3 weeks for micro weddings and up to 6-8 weeks for all day coverage, during peak wedding season. I do my utmost to present them to you as soon as possible.

That’s great.   You can message alison@alisonedwardsphotography.co.uk or call/WhatsApp me on 07977 499473. Or you can complete the contact form on my website and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
