Black and White Studio Collection – Project 12 for ’14 February

As you may have gathered from the title of this post, the objective for February was to produce a collection of black and white photos in the studio.

Typically, I really liked the colour versions too but stuck with my original plan as I felt the black and white versions pipped the post with the styling for these particular photos.

I hope these photos show another side to studio photography and what can be achieved.

I don’t like to go overboard on props but a few bits create a little character and these outfits are what my son would wear anywhere so they are not far removed from his style. I always love hats and the tie in the photos was carefully chosen by my son who thinks he’s pretty smart when he wears one. The chair has a story to it in that I had been searching for a white wooden chair for a while and drove past a nearby house one day when I saw this one waiting there to be thrown away. I decided to turn around and cheekily knocked at the door to see if I could have it. My son was hugely embarrassed by this but a big thank you to the lady who no longer wanted it as it made my day and is already at home in my studio!

Below are the 14 photos which I have selected as my chosen ones for February. I really love these photos and I hope you like them too. I’m sure there’s a place for them somewhere in my home.

If you like them and would like some photos for your own children, please do get in touch. Photos like these do require styling to obtain the optimum results and I would talk to you about clothing beforehand so that you can come to the session prepared.
