Chinese Wedding Photographer - Carriage Hall Nottingham

Earlier in the May and I had the pleasure of photographing Sarah and Matt’s wedding.

This was the first time I had photographed a Chinese banquet and I had been looking forward to the day since booking it as it was a varied day with traditions and locations.

The day started with Sarah and one of her flower girls at home to capture the bridal preparations. Sarah’s brother then came to collect her and we headed to Sarah’s parent’s home where Sarah and Matt saw each other for the first time that day and a traditional tea ceremony was held with their families together.

It was then onto The Carriage Hall for the service. We arrived a little earlier than the guests which gave Matt time to blow up the 3ft balloons they had purchased except one of them popped at 2ft so a wise decision was made to make them slightly smaller!

Following a beautiful service, everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes outside at The Carriage Hall and, although the wind made quite a few appearances, we were fortunate that the rain held off to capture some photos outside. Sarah also threw her bouquet which is not something you see very often and she gave it a good throw way up into the air which caused a great deal of laughter.

We had arranged to go to Wollaton Hall for Sarah and Matt’s bride and groom portraits. The rain started to pour just as we set off, however, this didn’t stop the photos going ahead and Sarah and Matt were great sports in carrying on despite the rain.

It was then onto their family restaurant, Chungs of Mapperley for a Chinese banquet where Sarah changed into a traditional Chinese dress for part of the banquet. Part of the banquet was a tea ceremony and later on Sarah and Matt greeted their guests at their tables with drinks of brandy.

Everyone certainly had a good time and one of Sarah’s flower girls had been capturing guests enjoying the day which produced a video at the end of the day. Although I didn’t see this, I did see some of the reactions from their guests viewing it on the ipad and it looked like she had done a good job.

Having met Sarah and Matt a few months earlier for their pre-wedding shoot (which can be viewed by clicking here), I knew the day was going to be fun and full of love.

As you will see from the photos below, Sarah is beautiful and she looked stunning in both of her wedding dresses. Sarah and Matt make a fantastic couple and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking them for choosing me to be their wedding photographer. It was a real pleasure to be part of your day and experience the different traditions incorporated into the day. Thank you also to your families and friends for making me very welcome throughout the day. I wish you both all of the happiness in the world together.

I have received a message from Sarah to say:- “We’ve had a look through the photos, they are all beautiful, thank you so much! I love how you have captured everyone’s personalities in the photos.”
